Literature Text

I find myself surrounded,

By humanities peak.

The latest generation,

By the best and by the meek,

And whether our doom or our salvation,

They’re most certainly unique.

Those who still read and can speak,

The intelligent and great.

There’s the socialite few,

And the rather incomplete,

The arists and musicians,

And the scientists that teach us -

And least of all, there’s me.

I wonder what my role is,

In this brave and weird new world,

I’m afraid I’ve missed the forest,

Because I rather like the trees,

And there’s no room for the philosopher,

Because Google’s all we need,

And poetry is quite useless,

According to scientific studies.

I’d hope to be remembered,

So maybe I’ll start a war,

Or maybe here, at societies end,

We’ll find a use for words once more.
There's not much to say on this really - by Generation Z, I mean 'Digital Natives', as in those who have grown up with the internet and laptops and cellphones. Essentially, anyone who can remember most of 2000-2010. The poem really flows together better spoken that it does if you simply read it. You'll just have to take my word for it, because obviously you can't hear me read it.

Great poem! I'm glad you realised that ourculture is changing faster than ever, and our generation will have a key role on deciding what direction this change will take during the next 50 years and that will decide history for long time to come.
It is interstin that I've writtena haiku about this senastion some hours ago and when I uploaded it your poem immediately came by. Seems like accidents still happen, however vast the evergroving lands of internetia are, so there is hope.
By the way pls checkout the said Haiku.
